It’s There for the Taking!

In this blog, I am going to look at the subject of success, its results and whether you can make any money in the drone industry.

I have recently been involved in quite a few conversations on industry forums with PfCO holders who are down in the dumps or even depressed by the fact that after all of their hard work they haven't managed to convert a single customer!

‘There’s no work around’

‘I’m not renewing my PfCO’

‘I have spent a fortune on my website and still, have no customers’

‘18 months and I haven’t had a single job’

These are all real responses that I have had from multiple posts from different operators who have all had such a negative experience that they are thinking of throwing in the towel.

The sad fact is that many people underestimate the effort needed to convert new customers, or simply lack the basic tools that they need to do so. So to debunk this myth lets look at some common factors.

1. It’s not going to come to you, you have to go out and get it!-Building a website and having a great show reel is fantastic, but if nobody knows you are there what’s the point? You have to tell people you are there. Pick up the phone, write blog articles and post them on multiple channels, aggressively grow your network. It will take time but it works!

2. It’s all about ‘perceived value’ not added value!- Perceived value is what a client perceived is in their favour when they do business with you as an individual, your business and your services. Make sure your messaging communicates this. Features benefits and USP’s are 1970’s thinking and don't attract any attention. Start with why, then who and finally tell them what! Value isn't something you add for free or give away, its something you offer that nobody else does.

3. Dropping price is an idiots strategy- Price is one of the most misunderstood subjects in the world. You know what you’re worth. You spent a fortune on your training, you have the best kit and your content is awesome. So what are you dropping your knickers at the first hint of a deal! It smacks of desperation, says ‘I'm not worth what I say I am and Im also desperate for work! Hold your price! Some customers buy on price, the ones worth having buy on value (yes some customers are not worth having!) When you sell based in price it will only go in one direction, and it doesn’t end well for you, me or the industry at large!

4.The only people that make money work in the mint! - You have to EARN money! If you do all of the above, work hard, apply yourself and make sure you devote at least two hours of your day to sales and marketing you will be successful. If you want to earn more, do more its that simple!

We have been making a profit from day 1, growing every month and generating new and repeat business. It can be done...you know what to do, but you're just not doing it!

We have just launched a new sales and marketing course aimed at commercial drone pilots. If you feel it could be of benefit to you then just give me a call. You can reach me on 01353 771459 and by then using option 1. Or you can just book it online by visiting www.prodroneacademy.co.uk
